Easy Weeknight Spaghetti
Easy Weeknight Spaghetti is a go-to recipe for my family for busy nights that is really affordable, simple to make and fills tummies made with ground turkey, tomato paste, tomato sauce, garlic, tomatoes, seasoning and additions you have on hand such as onion or bell pepper.
I think all of us moms have some sort of spaghetti with marinara sauce recipe that is really quick and super affordable and this is mine! Sometimes, I have fresh herbs in the garden, leftover onion or a spare bell pepper to also toss in so feel free to use whatever you have on hand to put extra flavors into this sauce.

Recipe type: dinner
Serves: 6 servings
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey, lean
- 24 ounce can tomato sauce ( we like to buy the Hunts Traditional Pasta Sauce)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 6 ounce can tomato paste
- 10 ounce can diced tomatoes
- ½ tablespoon Italian medley seasoning
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- 1 pound spaghetti, thin
- bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- ½ onion, chopped (optional)
- parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Fill a pot with water and bring to a boil.
- As the water is coming to a boil, add ground turkey to a separate pan and cook until browned. You can also add in some chopped bell pepper or onion at this point. Add salt and pepper to taste and the Italian medley seasoning.
- As the water is coming to a boil and the ground turkey is cooking, mince the garlic cloves and open the cans.
- Move the ground turkey to one side, drizzle a teaspoon of olive oil in other side of pan and add the minced garlic. Cook until fragrant (about 1 minute) and mix it in with the meat. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato pasta and tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer and cover while the pasta finishes cooking.
- Once the pot of water is at a boil, add the pasta noodles and cook according to packaged directions. Drain.
- Serve spaghetti with a heaping pile of pasta, a scoop of sauce and top with parsley or cheese if you would like.
