Experts say by 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish! What can we do to change this path we are on? How can each individual help the planet? One Small Change You can Make to Help the Planet is to replace your usage of plastic bottles with a Brita Pitcher with Longlast™ Filter for your drinking water.
Our bodies need water to survive. Water helps us do all sorts of things from regulating body temperature to helping with circulation to maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Bottled water has become a popular choice for many to drink more water to achieve better health spending 13 billion a year! 13 billion on bottled water. More water for better health is great but let’s be honest, we don’t have to sacrifice the planet to do so. Bottled water has become a bad habit among the population that can and needs to be changed!
Just how bad is this bottled water habit? 2,000 plastic water bottles are used every second in the US. Every second! Read that one more time. Now, think about the fact that plastic water bottles take 450 years to decompose. Are you ready to kick the bottled water habit with me?

One Small Change You can Make to Help the Planet
Kicking that bottled water habit by switching to Brita is one way we can help the planet. What are some other simple ways we can help?
Drive less and carpool more.
Menu plan so you make less trips to the store, combine errands and find a buddy or two to ride to work with so less cars are on the road. You may even be able to cycle or walk to walk or take advantage of public transportation.
Recycle
Recycling is a great habit to get you and your whole family into. My family strives to recycle more every week than we throw in the garbage.
Reusable Bags
Use reusable bags when you go to the grocery store. So many plastic bags end up in landfills, oceans and more causing destruction.
Compost
Reducing food waste is always a goal but you can’t get rid of it completely so composting is a great way to put that thrown out food to good use. Composting actually helps enrich the soil by turning organic waste into an organic fertilizer.
Live #BetterWithBrita with me! With the help of Brita, I’m ditching bottled water as a step towards helping the planet.
Oh yes, I never use plastic bottles anymore. I have a filter and just fill a silicone water bottle. It’s such an easy switch and much better for the planet!
Yes! Just one small change can do so much.
We love our Brita filter too! The amount of plastic bottle waste makes me cringe so much. I’ve really been trying to become much more mindful of my impact and amount of waste we contribute.
That’s awesome Amber!
I’m really working to use reusable bags whenever I shop now. Many states and cities are also making it a requirement.
My grocer is switching to resuable bags only by next year. I think it is great! (although sometimes I do forget mine)
I love seeing all the ideas for earth day. Using sustainable items is so important!
I have a brita filter and I love it so much, I think it might be time to upgrade to a newer model though.
This long last filter is pretty awesome!
