Why you should always buy white bedding even with kids! I have two messy children, two rambunctious dogs and a crazy little ferret in my home. I always buy white bedding for the master suite and I am sharing with you why you should also!
- Brightens up your space.
- Establishes a classic, crisp and polished look.
- Easy to accessorize and makes feature items or colors in the bedroom pop!
- It is effortless.
- Easily cleaned.
- Pieces are easily replaced or updated.
Everything gets a little messy with kids around. ” They’re always sticky like they’ve got jam on their hands. Even if there’s no jam in the house, somehow, they’ve always got jam on their hands! I’m not the right guy to deal with that. I have no patience for jam hands!”- Luke, Gilmore Girls. Where my Gilmore Girl fans at?
Here is the thing with all white bedding. Jam will magically appear on whatever you buy. Period. White bedding is easy to clean and if damage happens to be irreversible, you don’t have to buy an entire new bedding set. No, simply replace the damaged item with another piece of white.
How to keep white your white bedding…well, white? Do not bleach, use a spray stain remover if needed, dry on low temperature settings, and use cold water. Most importantly, do not wash bedding with anything else. This means you do not throw a towel or hoodie in the wash with your bedding! Take care of your bedding and it can last for years.
Here is what I have on my bed right now:
- A duvet with cover. [Similar: Target Texture Duvet Cover Set]
- Two Euro sized shams with covers that correspond with that duvet cover.
- Bedskirt. [Same product: Target Tailored Bedskirt]
- Sheet and fitted sheet that correspond with two of the pillows. [Similar: JC Penny Ultrafit Performace Sheet Set]
- Lumbar pillow for décor. [Fun idea: Zazzle White Leather texture Lumbar Pillow]
- Coverlet that corresponds with two more pillow shams. Yes, I have a coverlet and also a duvet. [Coverlets and quilts from Wayfair]
- Throw blanket. [Similar: TacheNew Faux Fur Sherpa Throw]
I literally have mix matched sets of bedding from six places? They all work great together. Think of different textures when going all white. Do something with more detail, something classic, and something fuzzy. Always need a fuzzy touch. Extra pillows and blankets add more depth and comfort.
Make your master bedroom a serene spot in your home to relax and unwind. Lavender or vanilla scented candles, classic white bedding, beautiful flowers and a piece of art you absolutely love is all you need. Keep it simple and enjoy your bedroom!
Do you dare to all go white in the bedroom? I promise, you won’t ever look back!
Pin this for later:
I hear ya and I totally agree! A couple of years ago I took the dark brown duvet cover off our comforter and I haven’t looked back! Now if I could just get some nice white pillow shams and such to go with it.
Totally! Throw some fun pillows on top and you are set!
I love white bedding and insisted on it in our master, even though we have a toddler and baby. It’s easy to clean and it makes me feel like we’re in a hotel. Great post!
It does have that hotel feeling, doesnt it? So nice.
Love the look Amber! I’m on the hunt for new bedding, but I was afraid to go white. I love the white look, but if you can maintain it with little ones, I feel like I have no excuse now! 🙂 thanks for this post! Definitely needed the fun inspiration today 🙂
❤ Go for it!
I love the crisp white look in a bedroom…but I do fear dirt especially from the cat. That’s what the washing machine is for 🙂
I LOVE white bedding and do agree that it’s easiest to clean! I’ve mixed and matched too!
I love my white bedding, and just ordered my first white comforter!
Thank you for comforting my concerns! I love the look and feel of white bedding in a bedroom. I was starting to change my mind about spending the money for white bed linens when I started thinking of stains and spills.
It will be okay. You will be happy with it!
Awesome! I’ve been thinking of switching to white and this pretty much has me sold on it now. Thanks for sharing!!
I love white bedding and adding different textures to change things up–have it in my master and guest bedrooms currently!
Thank you Amber for introducing me to white bedding. It is so pretty. Where can I buy the 2 shams and lumbar throw pillow? I can’t find it on wayfair. There are too many pages to sift through. What are the shams and lumbar throw pillows specifically named or called? Thank you for your reply.
The shams and pillow are from Pier 1. I just bought bedding for my daughter yesterday at Target though and they have some white shams. Just look for something with texture… ruffles for example and you will have the same look. Instead of a lumbar pillow, you can always check out the pillow aisle and grab something fluffy or again, with some sort of texture for added interest. I order from Wayfair a lot too and just took a look at these 2 to mix and match together would look really great : https://www.wayfair.com/baby-kids/pdp/willa-arlo-interiors-yamna-10-piece-comforter-set-wrlo4369.html (comes with a breakfast pillow and… Read more »
Thank you Amber for your quick reply. I really appreciated it. I’m sorry to bug you about this but I can’t find the shams (or big flowered pillows?) and lumbar criss-cross pillow on the Pier1 website. I’m referring to the pillows with the big, huge flowers on them just like your photos on this link. I want exactly what you have pictured. Also, I cannot find the criss-cross lumbar pillow either. The closest one I’ve found was on Wayfair (Edenton Ruched Lumbar Pillow by Beachcrest Home $26.99). However, I prefer the exact ones you have pictured; both big flowered shams… Read more »
That bedding from Pier 1 is from last year so I don’t know if you will be able to find the exact same thing ( I looked hoping it would be on clearance now) but I did find this set on Amazon with comforter and shams with the floral design http://amzn.to/2FTRFf1 and I am having a hard time with the lumbar pillow ( I like the one you found on Wayfair though) but these square ones are neat http://amzn.to/2ucLTQ6 with floral pattern instead of criss cross. Hobby Lobby, World Market, Target, Macys, Wayfair, Home Goods, Meijers, Pier 1 are all… Read more »
Thank you Amber. I’ll check it out. Also, which do you prefer: a ruffled bed skirt or w/o ruffles – tailored bed skirt with pleats on corners? Here’s one: https://www.amazon.com/Tailored-Bedskirt-Mattress-Classic-Pleated/dp/B00F3W07LC
Thank you much.
Mine is tailored like the one linked.
